You may have heard Central Hauling will soon be offering a better pay package for our independent contractors. We're raising our base pay by two cents (to 98 cents per mile) and have improved our performance tiers! Let's get right to the details and keep it simple:
These changes will take effect April 1st, 2018. No April Fooling.
Here's the breakdown by tiers:
<10,500 miles/month (base) $ .98/mile
10,500 - 11,750 miles/month: $1.00/mile
11,750 - 13,000 miles/month: $1.02/mile
13,000 - 15,500 miles/month: $1.04/mile
15,500 - 19,000 miles/month: $1.06/mile
>19,000 miles/month: $1.08/mile
Wondering how that would work out in the real world? Let's look at three made-up drivers to illustrate the real-life effects of Central’s pay raises:
Amy "Hauler" and Joe Madden
Hauler and Joe love nothing more than the open road and a June-Carter-Cash-heavy Spotify playlist. Their miles reflect it. They average about 19,000 miles a month over the course of a year. They spend a long weekend at home with their grandkids here and there, but they enjoy each other's company and arguing about politics while navigating traffic. They'll now make a $1.08/mile. Their gross income would previously have been $237,120 and will now beat last year's by $9,120 for a total of $246,240.
Kristy Kristofferson
Kristy enjoys her time on the road, comparing Waffle House location quality on her Eats On The Road blog, and putting in 13,000 miles a month. Her pay rate just jumped to a $1.04/mile. Before April 1st, she would have earned $156,000, but now she will earn a yearly gross of $162,240. That’s a pay bump of $6,240!
James Smokey Bandit
James works hard and enjoys Love's pizza and YouTube's selection of cat videos. He averages about 11,750 miles a month. He'll now make $1.02/mile at that volume. He would previously have earned $138,180 but will now earn a yearly gross of $143,820, so his pay went up $5,640.
